We are excited for the Spring season!! If you are receiving this email, you are registered for the HLL Baseball Spring Season in a division that requires assessments. This Saturday, February 8, is the assessments for the Machine Pitch (7-8), Minors (9-10), Majors (11-12), and Intermediate 50/70 (12-13) Divisions. Please read this ENTIRE communication for important information:
Assessments are at XL Sports World (2300 Oak Lake Blvd, Midlothian, VA 23112). We will hold the Minors / Majors / Intermediate assessments upstairs in the main building and Machine Pitch will be in the building across the parking lot. All players must check in at the main XL Sports World building.
Links to assessments schedules are below. If you need to adjust your time, please reach out to your divisional director ASAP. Contact information is included at the bottom of this page.
Arrive early to register and bring appropriate documentation
Wear athletic clothing and sneakers (NO CLEATS). Bring any equipment needed (glove, bat, helmet, etc). If you do not have a bat or helmet, there will be some there for your use.
Plan for ~60 minutes
If you have requested play up or down, you will have two assigned assessment times and are required to attend both
Please ensure your child brings a glove and wears sneakers and athletic clothing. Please do not wear cleats! We will provide bats and helmets if you don’t have them.
The entire process should take ~45-60 minutes and consist of the following:
Field a couple of grounders and throw about the distance from SS to 1B
Catch a couple fly balls
Move to the batting cages to hit a few pitches
Space will be tight in each location so parents, be patient and wait for your kids in the lobby.
There will not be a make-up date. If you cannot attend, you will still play but please make the effort to attend assessments. Please let your divisional director know that you will not attend.
One of the key reasons for the assessment is to make sure that all Managers can assess the kids in order to draft teams that are as equal and competitively balanced as possible. Without seeing all of the kids makes this difficult. We would love to have close to 100% participation.
Please do not come at a random time. We have created the schedule so that we can get through 25-30 kids in 30 minutes. If folks come at the wrong time it will create unnecessary lines and delays.
