Are there tryouts?
- Yes, MANDATORY Tryouts are at the Robious Athletic Complex. ALL players MUST tryout in order to be drafted and placed on a team. Tryouts schedule will be posted asap. (NO tryouts for Tee Ball) The tryouts are "skills assessments" to help evenly distribute the players. Everyone gets a place on a team and everyone gets guaranteed playing time. Every child plays!

When does Tee Ball start? and

-Tee Ball practice starts April 3, 2010
Your Tee Ball manager will contact you a few days before your first practice.

-Practices start March 6, 2010. Managers must contact their players no later than March 4, 2010.

Where will the team roster be posted?
-For safety reasons, this information will not be posted on the HLL site. Your manager will give you roster information.
Why choose Huguenot Little League?
- Unlike some local athletic associations that require their teams to travel all over Chesterfield County to play other teams, the majority of games and practices for HLL are at the Robious Athletic Complex. In addition to fields at the Robious Athetic Complex, the ballfields at Greenfield, Crestwood, Bon Air Elementary and James River, High School are used. Click here for ballfield maps.
- At its core, the purpose of Little League is to provide a safe, fun, wholesome combination of recreation and competition to players ages 5-18 through regular season play among local teams. For those players whose skills are more advanced, the Little League International Tournament provides the largest sports tournament in the world, with more than 40,000 games played each summer on the road to the various World Series tournaments. (Compare this to “travel ball” or “elite teams” for which parents pay exorbitant amounts of money, and players get burned out.)
Who can play in this league?
- All boys and girls aged 5-18 who live within the HLL boundaries can play. Click here to see the boundary map and residence eligibility info. Still not sure if you live within the boundaries? Email the appropriate HLL board member for help.
We've moved out of the HLL boundaries, can we play at HLL?
- If you have been playing at HLL and previously lived within the HLL boundaries, but have since moved outside of the boundaries, you may continue to play HLL. But, you must have played consecutive years - no years at another league or year sitting out. Email the appropriate HLL board member to initiate a waiver to play HLL.
We don't live within the HLL boundaries but our league doesn't offer softball.
- If your child wants to play softball but your league doesn't have a softball division, email the VP of Softball to learn how you can join an HLL softball team.
My child is trying out for a high school team, but we won't know the outcome until after HLL registration is closed
- Go ahead and register for HLL before our deadline. If your child makes the high school team, you will receive a 100% refund. If you wait to register for HLL, not only will you be subject to a late fee, you may end up on a waiting list and possibly not be added to a team. Guarantee yourself a spot and register early for HLL.
We are carpooling, can we request being placed on the same team?
- Make a note in the "Additional Comments" section of the registration form that your child needs to be teamed with another child (note child's name.)
What are the Spring (Fall, All Star) Season dates?

How many (and how long are) games and practices per week?
- Generally, pre-season practices are 2-hours, twice weekly. Generally, when the season starts, there are two 2-hour games and one 2-hour practice per week.
Besides the registration fee, what are the parent obligations?
- As the parent of a Little Leaguer, you are committed to making your child's sports experience as rewarding as possible. Little League Baseball and Softball offers some tips on participating as a volunteer in your local league, as well as ways you can help develop the concepts of character, courage, and loyalty in your Little Leaguer. What are the player obligations?
- Players are required to attend at least 50% of practices. For the sake of team unity and player improvement, players are strongly encouraged to attend all practices and games. The purpose of Little League is to assist youth in developing qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork, and physical well-being, with proper guidance and exemplary leadership. Players should strive to embody the Little League ideals of character, courage, and loyalty.
Do we have to participate in the HLL fundraisers?
- HLL is a non-profit, volunteer organization that relies on registration fees and fundraisers to help maintain the facilities and ball fields at Robious Athletic Complex, in addition to providing team uniforms, bats, game balls, batting helmets, catcher's equipment. You are not required to participate in the fundraisers, but you are encouraged to do so to maintain the viability of the league.
How are the All Star teams chosen? When will players be notified?
- HLL usually sponsors approximately 18 All Star/post season teams. All teams will be selected based upon votes cast by players, official managers and official coaches. The sole exception to this rule is the selection of the 9 year old post season team; said team shall be selected by the votes of official managers and coaches of that division. Who runs the concession stand?
- HLL runs the concession stand. If you are an adult interested in volunteering to manage the concession stand, HLL would be delighted to discuss the responsibilities/possibilities with you! Additionally, the concession stand is always in need of cheerful, clean, conscientious workers. Contact the appropriate board member iif you are able to help.
I have a complaint about…
- Contact the appropriate HLL board member to submit your complaint, question, or comment.
Lost and found.
- Found items may be brought to the concession stand. Please write your child's name on every piece of equipment and clothing brought to the field. It may save you lots of money and aggravation in the long run!
