We're Looking for Help! |
HLL is a volunteer organization offering baseball, softball and challenger divisions to local youth since 1962.
HLL is a charter of Little League in Virginia District V. HLL is headquartered in Chesterfield County at the Robious Athletic Complex. Twelve divisions, five ballfields, restrooms, a concession stand, and close proximity to The Shoppes at Bellgrade, make HLL convenient for busy families.
HLL adheres to the objective for Local Leagues as put forth by Little League:
The objective of the Local League (HLL) shall be to implant firmly in the children of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, courage, and respect for authority so that they may be well adjusted, stronger and happier children and will grow up to be good, decent, healthy and trustworthy citizens.
HLL is dedicated to providing a fun, positive sporting experience for all youth during the Spring Season, All Star Season, and Fall Ball. HLL offers Umpire Training and is the site of summer training camps. We encourage parents and youth to join us in the stands and on the field. PLAY BALL!

Reminders and Tips
During the season, please check the Chesterfield County Field Closing Status web page periodically for field closings. However, you will be contacted by your manager if fields are closed due to weather. If in doubt about field conditions, please contact your team manager directly.
Weather Related Field Closings:
WEEKDAYS: Chesterfield County Parks & Rec decides each weekday if our ballfields are fit for play. That decision is not made until about 4pm, at which time the county updates their weather hotline: 748-1001 and their Field Closing Status web page. HLL may send an email only after the county has made their decision. If in doubt about field conditions, please contact your team manager directly.
The HLL website and email list is run by volunteer. So it is best to rely on the county weather hotline and web page.
WEEKENDS: The HLL board member on weekend duty decides if our ballfields are fit for play. That decision will not be made until Saturday morning. For Saturday play, assume all fields are open unless "fields are closed" is posted on the HLL website, OR you receive an email notification, OR your team manager notifies you.
If in doubt about field conditions, or field closing questions, contact your team manager.
Parking:
- DO NOT park on the grass in between the parking lots! The elementary school, the league, and many volunteers have spent a lot of time, effort, and money to try to grow grass in these areas.
- DO NOT block the ramps to the sidewalks. We have players and spectators with disabilities who need access.
- DO NOT park in the upper parking lot (by the green buildings). This is for managers and coaches with equipment bags only.
- DO NOT park directly in front of the small green (gator) shed or block the opening to the field at the head of the upper parking lot.
- DO NOT take a handicap parking spot unless you have a permit.
- There is PLENTY of parking in the lower parking lots. Avoid getting a ticket. Only park in a designated parking spot. Enforcement will be increased this year and violators will be ticketed and/or towed!
General Safety:
- Parents, Managers, Coaches: It is YOUR responsibility to know all the rules — rules of the game, of the league, of the sports complex. Please help us keep everyone safe by knowing and respecting the rules.
- Please don't let your kids climb in the trees.
- All batters must wear a helmet at all times, even in the batting cages. Remember, if you're swinging a bat, you're wearing a helmet.
- Managers/coaches and parents are NOT allowed to warm up pitchers. ONLY players (with appropriate protective gear) may warm up pitchers.
- Pitchers MUST warm up in the bullpens and catchers MUST wear protective gear. Managers/coaches may be in the bullpen, but only players wearing protective gear can warm up pitchers. Pitchers are not to warm up outside the fence alongside the playing field.
- ONLY PLAYERS, MANAGERS and COACHES ALLOWED IN THE DUGOUTS!
- ALL male players must wear athletic supporters with metal, fibre, or plastic type protective cup.
- Parents, grandparents, and siblings are not permitted on the field or inside the fence during games. No batboys or batgirls are permitted.
- Please refrain from bringing your dogs and other pets to the sports complex. They are a distraction to the players. Players and kids use our entire facility — pet waste and playgrounds don't mix well. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR PETS AT HOME.
- Skate boards, scooters, and bicycles are not allowed in Robious Sports Complex.
- PLEASE — drive slowly — watch out for children!
