6 Year Old Baseball - Coach Pitch

League Ages 6

 

In Coach Pitch (Adv) Tee Ball, the focus is on development of baseball fundamental skills and teamwork in preparation for the Machine Pitch division in the following year. Players hit overhand balls thrown by a coach. If a player misses 3 coach pitched balls, then the player will hit from a tee.   

 

Minimum Age Requirement

Your child must turn 6 years of age on or before August 31 of current year in order to register for the regular Spring season.

Season

 

The regular spring season starts at the end of March and typically runs through the end of May and may go into the first two weeks of June.  Pre-season practices begin in early March.

Practice

 

Multiple practices are scheduled prior to the season with usually one practice per week during the Regular season. 

Games

 

Each team plays a minimum of 10 regular season games.

Games played during the week generally start at 5:30 PM.

Games played on Saturday are scheduled between 9 AM to 4:30 PM.

Games are 3-4 innings with each player batting every inning.

Uniforms

HLL provides a jersey, pants, socks and cap.

Parents must provide sneakers (rubber cleats not mandatory).

Playing Equipment

Parents must provide ball glove, water bottle, and batting helmet with mask. 

Team

Teams usually consist of 10 to 12 players, a volunteer manager, two volunteer coaches and a volunteer team parent.

Volunteer Work/Fund Raising

HLL is an all volunteer organization. We need everyone’s help!  Parents are needed to support HLL through fundraisers.

6 Year Old Baseball - Coach Pitch - FAQ’S

 

Q: Do you keep score and are there umpires?

A: No.  The Coach Pitch division is structured to teach the very basic fundamentals of baseball only. The games are self umpired by the volunteer managers and coaches.

 

Q: Can I Manage or coach a team?

A: Yes, if positions are available. Prospective managers must complete an online application. If you would like to serve as a coach, then please note that on your child's spring online registration. All managers and coaches must be approved by the Huguenot Little League Board of Directors.

 

Q: Will my child get to play all the time?

A: Yes, all players play.

 

Q: Can my child play up?

A: Play ups will be determined by the Player Agent and VP of the 6 Year Old Baseball - Coach Pitch division.

 

Q: What are the volunteer requirements?

A: Huguenot Little League is an all volunteer organization so there are many ways to volunteer. Help is always needed with registration, team parenting, assisting with pictures, opening day and fun day activities.
