Manager and Coach Checklist
(complete and submit these items each season)

1. Register in the system as a Volunteer (Manager/Head Coach, Assistant Coach or Field Volunteer) in your desired Division.
2. JDP Background Check - Please be on the lookout for an email (usually within 24 hrs of registration) from the Little League Background system with a link to complete your application online. **This is for ALL volunteers - Managers/Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, On Field Volunteers, Team Parents, Scorekeepers and adults volunteering in Concessions.
3. Obtain a Chesterfield County Coaches' Card - **This is for Managers/Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and On Field Volunteers. Please Click here for further information on the requirement for Chesterfield County.
   Once you have a valid Coaching Card, please update your Volunteer Registration with the Card Number and Card Expiration Date. Click here for instructions on updating coaching card information for your volunteer registration.
4. Diamond Leader Training - **This is for Managers/Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches. Please visit https://www.littleleague.org/diamondleader/ to complete the training and then Upload the certificate to your volunteer registration.
5. Concussion Training - **This is for Managers/Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches. Please visit https://www.littleleague.org/player-safety/concussions-youth-athletes/ to complete the training and then Upload the certificate to your volunteer registration.
6. Abuse Awareness Training - **This is for Managers/Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches and On Field Volunteers. Please visit https://www.littleleague.org/player-safety/child-protection-program/safesport-resources-parents/ to complete the training and then Upload the certificate to your volunteer registration.

Little League Rules:
Appointments of Managers, Coaches, Umpires, and Other Volunteers

1. The first step in a person becoming a manager, coach or umpire should be for the local league to form committees to seek and screen those willing to serve. Those willing to serve must fill out the online Volunteer Application Form, and must successfully pass a background check.
2. The next step is for the president to appoint managers, coaches and umpires at his/her discretion. Exception: Coaches new to a particular team can not be named until after the draft.
3. No person can manage, coach or umpire without the president appointing that person to that position, and the board approving that appointment.
4. ALL managerial, coaching and umpiring positions are annual. As such, a president and/or board of directors does not need to give a reason to a person if that person is not re-appointed or re-approved as a manager, coach or umpire for the coming season. IMPORTANT: No manager, coach or umpire has any tenure whatsoever, regardless of the years of service.
